Rest Days

CAKED OUT!!!

How many days a week are you CrossFitting/working out? Do you listen to your body? Are you more sore somedays then others? Just not feeling the WOD that day?

Theres a ton of other questions that follow along the same lines. Todays topic is one often overlooked...REST DAYS. Is it pride? check the ego at the door. Want fast results? Nothings going to happen overnight. Want to get stronger? Well buddy, you'll get weaker without adequate rest.

Overtraining is a very common "problem" in the CF community. Do you remember the 1st WOD you did? Now next question, do you remember the soreness the 2nd & 3rd day after your 1st WOD? Pretty rough ehh! Well thats your body telling you a number of things, to name a few...
1. Yes, a bit out of shape.
2. What the hell was that!!!
3. Give me some rest & recovery.
4. This is what I was designed to do, so lets stay with it.
5. I need to stretch.

You need to be in sync with your body & listen to these things. Your brain & your body are 2 totally different beasts. Unfortunately they usually contradict each other, 2 prime examples at both ends of the spectrum.
1. Your sore as a mofo & feel like you almost need a walker, but your brain says "yeaaaa, I need a WOD today." Where on the other end your body is telling you, BREAK TIME!!!
2. Your mid WOD, the suck factor is banggin' at redline & your brain says "I cant go, I need a break, fu*k this sh*t!" Where your body is capable of much muchhh more.(this topic is for another day)

Example 1, you need to listen to. Its not going to kill you to take an extra day off & let yourself recuperate. When your beyond sore, your prone to injury, your form will lack, you lose that pep you have in the WOD. So your not a failure, a weenie, a slacker, useless or lazy in taking an extra day off. Every human body is different, so listen to YOURS. The days your DAMN sore/borderline hurting sore...just relax, YOU need it!!!
